Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Guilloche enamel is a decorative technique where a precise, intricate geometric pattern is mechanically engraved into metal and covered with translucent enamel. It gained widespread popularity in fine metalwork during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, notably perfected by Faberge and Scandinavian silversmiths.

These items are traditionally constructed from sterling silver plated with gold to create silver-gilt, combined with fused glass enamel applied over engine-turned patterns.

Authentic pieces feature clear makers marks, such as the David-Andersen hammer and scales mark, alongside silver purity stamps such as 925S or 830S. The enamel work should display precise engine-turned guilloche detailing beneath a smooth, glassy finish.

An enamel napkin ring can serve as a colourful accent on neutral linen napkins for table settings, or be displayed on a dining sideboard as part of a curated collection of antique silver and glassware.

Clean gently using a soft, lint-free cloth, avoiding abrasive polishes or chemical dips that could strip the thin layer of gold or fracture the glass enamel surface. Store in a dry place wrapped in acid-free tissue paper to limit tarnish.
