Large Victorian Oak Revolving Bookcase Dated 1900

Description

A handsome large antique Victorian revolving bookcase in solid oak with presentation plaque dated 1900. It has 12 compartments over 3 shelves for books with 4 sets of full length slats down each side. To the top there is a presentation plaque which reads: “BRADFORD AND DISTRICT CERTIFICATED ASSISTANT TEACHER’S ASSOCIATION PRESENTED TO MR JOHN HOLDSWORTH BY THE TEACHERS OF THE BRADFORD BOARD EVENING SCHOOLS AND CLASSES AS A TOKEN OF THEIR ESTEEM AND GOOD WISHES AND AS A MARK OF RECOGNITION OF SERVICES RENDERED IN THE CAUSE OF EVENING SCHOOL PROGRESS DURING HIS THIRTEEN YEARS OF TENURE OF OFFICE AS SUPERINTENDENT. WM STOCKDALE PRESIDENT E.N.BALMFORTH SECRETARY APRIL 26TH 1900”. It rests on a cross pedestal which stands on casters for ease of movement.
