Antique French Empire Walnut Commode Early 19th Century

This impressive Empire Commode features a beautiful black and white fossilised free standing marble top (25 mm thick) with a richly aged colour and patina.

The four full-width drawers are well constructed with traditional dovetail joints and are veneered to the fronts with book-matched wild grained walnut. There is a concealed drawer above the three main drawers.

Each of the three lower drawers have lionhead bronze ring pull handles and delicate floral bronze escutcheons.

The sides are flanked by tapered turned neoclassical walnut columns, which are mounted with decorative bronze ormolu.

The commode has been fully restored in our workshop. It has been cleaned and re-polished, the marble top has been re-finished and new drawer runners have been made to provide many more years use.
