Here we have a wonderful fine quality Victorian Edwards and Roberts twin pedestal desk c1870. As you can see the desk has great colour and patina. We believe the leather skiver is the original and has super colour and patina. There is a shallow border with inlaid string which takes the form of a Greek key pattern at the corners. There is a thumb moulded edge and below an arrangement of three over six drawers. The wonderful ebonised finish is complimented by stunning inlaid fronts to the drawers and fine Ormolu mounts to the top and base of the pedestals. There is further inlay between the Ormolu figures and a decorative brass bead to the base of the top which is replicated on top of the plinth bases on the pedestals. The drawers have their original handles and have solid Mahogany drawers linings and hand cut dove tail joints. Middle drawers stamped Edwards and Roberts. The carcass is also solid Mahogany and the whole sits on original casters. A super quality desk from an excellent make...
