Description

A large pair of good quality Japanese Meiji period Kutani vases. Of baluster form with characteristic iron-red ground and gilded decoration. The panels hand painted with scenes of Scholars with attendants to the fronts and birds amongst flowers to the backs, floral panels to the sides below elephant head handles. The gilding is in very good order but there is a very small hairline crack to the top edge of one vase (see close up photo). The underside with 5 character mark plus blue signature. Dimensions:- Height…14.75’’/ 37.5cm. Width…10’’/ 25.5cm. Depth…9’’/ 23cm. Delivery by carrier to most of U.K. mainland £30.
