A lovely Victorian writing desk, ideal for any period study or office.

We are delighted to offer this fantastic condition Antique Victorian (circa 1880s's) solid Mahogany twin pedestal writing desk of moderate proportions, ideal for any period study or office. This very original and usable desk is ideal to be used for a laptop with the bonus of being able to store the folded laptop in the middle drawer and lock it via its original lock and key. This desk could also be used as a hall or console table as it is narrow and not too intrusive.

This lovely desk features its beautiful original lightly faded French polished finish with a nice warm Mahogany colour with patina. This desk is complete with its lovely original Burgundy blind tooled writing desk leather which is also in great condition with some time worn patina, wear marks and a few small holes as expected with a leather skiver of this age.

The desk also features 9 finely dovetail constructed descending Mahogany lined drawers complete with its original 2 Mahogany turned knobs per drawer (none broken or replaced). As a small sign of quality cabinetry, all of the drawers fit into the carcass up-side down, meaning the frames and drawers are all square and true. The desk is also complete with all of its original quality Brass locks with brass escutcheons to front, all locks operate perfectly with its original key.

Under the desk pedestals are its original castors for ease of movement.

We have sympathetically restored, cleaned and waxed this item to enhance the French polished surface and preserve it for many years to come.

Please note; This item is in great condition for its age as shown by the photographs, however, being an antique item of this age there may be minor blemishes here and there which we feel adds to its originality and heritage of the piece. Also note this desk comes apart into 3 pieces for ease of transport and placing into a room .
