Description

A Large medium coloured 18th Century Oak and Elm Coffer or Mule Chest

This Chest is a large piece it is made throughout from solid oak and Elm, it has two panels on the front, these have an oval inlaid pattern in the centre. Each of the sides have a moulded panel one panel and it stands on a moulded Bracket footed plinth

The lid of the box is made from 2 oak planks these have cleated ends and a moulded edge, there are 2 drawer at the bottom of the chest with inlaid cock beading

The chest has a candle box inside and blacksmith made hinges, there box has working locks and the original keys

The chest is in good but old condition, there is very little marking on the wood just the odd chip, no evidence of woodworm or any serious faults

The coffer is 48’’ long 23’’ deep and 31’’ high.
