Description

Superb George III large solid silver tea urn of classical shape with side cast rococo handles. The lid with a pineapple finial. The cast spigot with carved shaped bone handle. Engraved on front of body with shield with 'D'. The square base decorated with pierced greek key decoration and standing on ball feet.The urn was originally made to take a hot iron from the fire ,an early form of heating element, thus it is able to be unscrewed near the base. All in great condition. Assayed for 1777 in London on all three parts. Weight a massive 90 oz. troy with heavy gauge body and base. The final two images show urn standing on fine Chippendale kettle stand also for sale.

Size; 18" high, 12" wide across handles. 14" deep incl. spigot. Base 5.5" square.
