A child’s Georgian elm trestle end bench
An appealing and charming piece of English vernacular Folk Art, with well figured and patinated elm, trestle ends with the platform bases, the back supports to pierced back rail over boarded seat, also pierced. The trestle bases show screws had been used to secure the bench to the floor.
English, circa 1750-1800
Height of back 23” (59cm), Height of seat 13.5” (33cm), Depth of seat 9” (23cm), Depth of base 12” (30cm).
