Description

A Late 18th Century Tole Tea Caddy.

With a raised and chamfered central panel to the lid, mounted with a gilt brass scrolled leaf handle. The lid decorated with flowers and scrolling leaves, within hatched borders. The lid opening to a pair of mahogany and boxwood strung tea compartments, each with a sliding cover. The body decorated with borders of scrolling foliage, enclosing flower decorated panels. The caddy stamping on bracket joining a pierced entwined frieze.

Date circa 1780.
