Fabulous Art Deco Silver and Guilloche Enamel Compact with Marcasite Decorations, Glasgow Import Marks 1929

Description

This exquisite and unusual continental silver and guilloche enamel compact has import marks for Glasgow 1929 and is further hallmarked by F B Reynolds, who specialised in imported items. It is enamelled all over: front, back and sides. always a sign of quality. The hinged lid inset with a pierced hexagonal reserve applied with marcasite decorations. The inner lid with the original mirror. It is a beautiful and tactile piece.

Hallmarks:

F.B.R for F. B Reynolds.

Birmingham Assay mark.

date letter "E" for 1930.

Lion Passant.

Dimensions:

Diameter: 4.5cm - 1.6 inches.

Height: 1cm - 0. 3 inches.

Condition:

Good.

Enamel in very good condition, some minor discolourations at places.

Mirror with a few spots and discolourations at places.

Good hinge.
