This example was made in the late 18th century. Made of heavy oak, that would have been felled on a large estate that a farmers’ cottage was situated.
The oak dresser is of a good size with a cupboard door each end that gives access to the storage behind the central panel. The 3 drawers above the cupboards with the attractive brass fretted handles.
It has a beautiful colour and patina, and the honourable scar of its life, adds to the dresser’s personality. It is easy to forget that these were the centre of a home’s daily life and an important part of the home, as they were the original kitchen cabinets to store all the mundane important crockery and cooking implements.
