Unusual late 19th.c Arts & Crafts repoussé brass and copper wall mirror c.1880. 38" x 20" mirror plate within a wooden frame faced with sheets of brass and copper featuring beautiful repoussé or hammered decoration. Main body of the frame is in brass with scrolling foliate forms in a symmetrical pattern. With three semi-circular copper panels across the top each featuring swallows perched on a line (note how the line runs across the three panels). A well as being a symbol of spring swallows also represent love, loyalty and the home. Very good condition, fitted with a new mirror plate, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
