A Pristine Victorian Mother-of-pearl And Abalone Card Case

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Lantern Antiques

This is a fine, mid-19th century, mother-of-pearl card case. Made c1860, it has a vibrant diamond pattern on both sides, the mother-of-pearl alternating with abalone. The colours reflect beautifully, in iridescent pinks, greens and blues. Retaining its original velvet interior, it is in excellent antique condition - with no losses or damage. The hinge is working well, and the lid opens on a side button and clicks shut firmly. There is a small blank cartouche on the edge of the lid.
