N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
This lovely antique mantel clock has a burr walnut case with a fantastic rich colour and grain. The top of the case is then shaped leading to the square body of the case. There is then a lovely shaped fretwork panel in the back door to allow the sound to escape better.
There is also a working lock and key to the front door.

The dial is then brass with a silvered chapter ring set out in black Roman numerals with every five minutes being marked in Arabic numerals. The dial then has four lovely gilt brass “maidens head” spandrils to each corner. The dial then has a beautiful pitted effect to the centre. Finally the dial is finished by two lovely shaped hands as well as a bevelled glass set into the front door.

The movement is then would from the front and accessed from the back. It is ticking away and chiming as it should and chimes one ting tang on the quarter past, two on the half past, three on the quarter to as well as the number of hours on the hour via two gongs. The clock is complete with its regulating pendulum and winding key. Finally the movement is stamped by the famous German maker Lenzkirch.
