Hingstons of Wilton has dated this piece to the 1930s.
When this fine dining table was crafted, there were countless old tables with fine timber not wanted, the cabinetmakers could choose from the selection good redundant timber to make into these fantastic dining tables.

They would then construct fine pillar bases to compliment the wonderful rich mahogany tops.
All the best trees had been felled during the 18th and 19thc. sadly, they were not replanted, this meant that to find the best grades of timber a recycling of the material available was required. The other bonus for them was that the redundant tables were very cheap compared to new timber (very much as we have today)

Therefore, the cabinetmakers could use this dense timber instead of the softer mahogany available.
The mahogany top stands on the pair of pillars with the fluted quadruple splay legs coming off the gun barrel turned column, with the plain square brass toes with rolling castors below.

The top with the square ends and rounded corners that you can add the 2 extra leaves to suit your requirements. You can use this table with no leaves, one extra leaf or both leaves to suit your dining requirements.

As it has a square end you may sit 2 people at each end comfortably.
There is something special about entertaining in a formal setting, even if it is only a few times of year.
Imagine entertaining your family and friends around this dining table, and the great pleasure ownership will bring you. It will be a decision you will always be pleased to have made.
