Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating during the reign of King Edward VII, Edwardian wardrobes revived 18th-century classical designs with lighter, more refined detailing. The breakfront configuration features a prominent central section that projects forward beyond the flanking side doors, creating an architectural silhouette.

Edwardian cabinetmakers frequently used mahogany, walnut, or rosewood, often adorned with satinwood or boxwood marquetry inlays. Construction featured hand-cut dovetail joints, solid timber drawer linings, bevelled glass mirrors, and solid brass hardware.

Authentic Edwardian furniture usually displays refined classical motifs such as shell carvings, urns, and neo-classical floral swags. Look for period-correct locks, original brass bail handles, and fine dovetail joinery in the drawers to confirm its era.

A large dark wood wardrobe works well as a focal statement piece in a master bedroom or dressing room. Pair the dark mahogany tones with neutral walls, linen textiles, and understated contemporary lighting to balance its visual presence.

Dust the wood regularly with a dry, soft cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish annually to protect the original patina. Ensure the piece is kept away from radiators, direct sunlight, and damp conditions to avoid wood movement or veneer splitting.
