Early 20thC Royal Doulton Relief Decorated Stoneware Tankard
A Royal Doulton stoneware tankard, relief decorated with stylised foliate motifs on a mottled toffee-coloured ground, with an impressed maker's mark to the underneath for the period 1902-22, an incised artist's monogram (BWP?) which I cannot identify, an impressed mark for the assistant (hd) which I take to be Violet Hayward and the registration number 3670.
Height 13.25cm (c5.25") & O/All Length at Handle 12.75cm (5")
Dia. at Base 11.25cm & Dia. at Rim 8.75cm (c4.5" & c3.5")
In good general condition but with a vertical hairline crack to the interior which is largely obscured by the relief decoration on the exterior; so, not for the purist perhaps but an attractive and unusual example nonetheless.
NB: When considering a purchase, please request a price for Postage & Packing.
Internal Ref: W-320160/196A
