A fine quality French ormolu, gilt bronze, mantel clock with decorated blue porcelain panels, circa 1870, retailed by Joshua Penlington of Liverpool and Paris
The ornate case with finely cast detailed mouldings, surmounted by a beautifully cast bust of a young woman, flanked by high quality castings of griffins, raised on toupie and scrolled feet.
The painted porcelain dial with Roman numeral chapter ring, signed Jos Penlington Paris, decorated to the centre with a finely executed painting and surrounded by gold leaf motifs, further decoration and painted young woman to the lower section.
The fully restored spring driven twin barrel movement, striking the hours on a single bell.
Stamped to the backplate AB within a star (Achille Brocot) and numbered 1633 17 - 1.
