Description

A good English majolica teapot by Joseph Holdcroft depicting a Chinese boy climbing up a coconut. The boy's shoulders and head form the cover. Painted number 2 mark to both the base and side of the cover inner flange,

Illustrated in Majolica by Karmason & Stacke, page 104 and discussed on page 105.

It measures 19cm (7 1/2") long, 10cm (4") wide and 13.3cm (5 1/4") high.

In very good condition: there is a chip to the lip inside the neck which is fully concealed by the cover and a small chip inside the flange of the cover. A small enamel loss to his nose and minimal handling wear otherwise. No repairs or restoration.
