Early 19thC Mahogany Sewing & Games Table with Swivel Top
A nice quality mahogany piece from around the reigns of George IV & William IV and in very good restored condition, with beautifully-figured swivel top, opening to reveal a baize-covered games surface, on panelled friezes to sides & rear and incorporating, at the front, a single drawer with circular mahogany knobs and brass escutcheon with working lock & key, over a pull-out storage bin, on inverse tapering octagonal supports, on circular moulded bases and platform bearers united by a turned stretcher and sitting on bun feet with recessed brass casters, this lovely sewing cum games table will charm in the most elegant of homes, whether period-furnished or more contemporary in style, fully-deserving of the envious attention it will surely attract.
Width of Top 52.5cm x Depth 38.5cm (c20.75" x c15.25")
Height with Top Closed 73.5cm (29") & with Top Open 71.75cm (28.25")
This piece dates from around 1820-40, so you may expect the mature character & patina of age, together with wear & tear commensurate with normal use but, now professionally & sympathetically restored, it's actually in very good, clean & sound condition and ready to use in your home.
