Description

Rare and unusual large early 20th century Spanish Icon,c1920. I purchased it from a Spanish resident who told me it came from a small village chapel in Northern Spain and he had purchased it in the 1960s when the chapel closed . The icon is in silver coloured metal (it may well be silver but the only mark I can see is 'Aym Mod. Registrada' or similar) and housed in a later leather frame. The quality of the casting is very good with great detail to the features of the Madonna and child. Overall condition is good with only very minor surface wear /rubbing to the icon. The backing to the leather frame has started to separate but all very minor and as you would expect from a piece of this age.
