This is a good quality, silver, presentation cutlery set, made by Walker and Hall Ltd, Sheffield. Assayed in 1912, with one piece assayed a little earlier, (a common practice found during the assembly of sets), it is beautifully engraved with floral decoration and chasing. Double struck, the handles are in a shield belt, and buckle pattern; the spoon and fork have anthemion mouldings to their reverse. The knife has scroll engraving to one side of the blade. Boxed by Walker and Hall, the crimson silk and velvet interior bears their name in gold. This set is in very good, antique condition, with some minimal signs of use. The hallmarks are crisp and clear. The box is original, in very good order, with strong hinges, and it snaps shut. A lovely gift.
