kings with elegant urn-shaped tops and spiked finials, queens surmounted with ball finials and spikes, bishops as split mitres, knights as raised horse’s heads, rooks as turrets, pawns with baluster knops and ball finials, in a green baize lined wooden box (probably of a later date) with a sliding lid.
