Description

A Pair of Late 18th Century Tin Glazed Apothecary Jars.

Each jar with a rounded spire finial, over a concave body, sweeping to a line edge rim. The covers fitting within the rims of the jars. Each cylindrical jar with a shield shape cartouche, enclosed within rising leaves and barriers. The cartouches titled with the contents, 'OPIATE DE SALAM' and 'STYRAX. L.' respectively. The jars finished with a ringed and banded foot.

Date circa 1790.
