Description

Oil on canvas signed by the artist Emile Gastemans (1883 - 1956). The painting shows a large vase of sweet williams with apples and grapes. It is mounted in an attractive wooden frame with slip.

Gastemans was a painter, watercolorist and lithographer. He took lessons at the Academy in Antwerp and was active in the city. He also travelled to Spain which influenced he work, making it lighter. He paints in an impressionistic style. Listed in Piron 1999 vol 1.
