A fine19th Century French Palais Royal Amboyna sewing and jewellery box. The slightly domed lid having an engraved brass cartouche with mother of pearl inlay all set within the beautifully figured Amboyna which is cross banded with Kingwood between ebony stringing. The box opens to reveal the totally original purple velvet lined and tooled tray which contains 17 gilded sewing accoutrements including the glass scent bottle with stopper and gilded hinged lid (one item is missing which is a pencil). Below the lift out tray is a storage area again retaining the original lining. The box has canted corners with conforming Amboyna, Kingwood and Ebony line inlay.
