Rare Pair of Small 18th Century Knfe Boxes

Description

A superb quality and thoroughly original PAIR of 18th century Knife (or cutlery) boxes of rare small size. The beautifully figured mahogany serpentine-shaped fronts, with their chequered string inlay to all leading corners, and with original Old Sheffield Plate escutcheons and ring handles, open to reveal the fully fitted interior in remarkably good and original condition.

To find pairs of Knife Boxes in such lovely original condition is difficult enough ~ but to find a pair of such delightful small and slender size, is rare indeed. Measurements: 13.5ins high; 8.5ins wide and just 6.5ins deep front-to-back. (35 x 21.5 x 16.5 cms). Circa1780-1790. (Priced for the pair)
