A beautiful George V era silver mounted tortoiseshell compact with mirror with clear hallmarks for Birmingham 1924 and makers mark for Samuel M Levi. Silver mounted tortoiseshell pieces were very desirable in the George V era and this small quality piece is made with a beautiful translucent tortoiseshell. The compact has silver edging and inner frame, and the lid is also edged in silver with a central silver garland. The hinge and lid work perfectly and the lid is inset with a mirror. There is a rounded for attaching the compact to a chatelaine or inside a purse. Really lovely and hard to find.
