Description

This wonderful extra large Old Sheffield Plate meat cover which dates from the early to mid 1800's is made by top silversmith Henry Wilkinson & Co and is a nice large size making it perfect for covering a big Sunday roast or Christmas meal.

This fine quality meat dome has a fancy design handle for easy lifting and a fluted design to the body with wonderful decorative edging.

This 19th century cover has a Lion family crest and motto to one side which reads Finem Respice, is a really heavy gauge and is beautifully clean inside.

Date: Early to Mid 19th century.

Marked: Maker's mark for Henry Wilkinson & Co.

Dimensions: 50 cm (19 3/4") Length. 35 cm (13 3/4") Width. 29 cm (11 1/2") Height including handle.

Weight: A little over 4 kg.

Condition: Excellent antique condition with light signs of use in keeping with age. A few small shallow bruises and light scratches. Inside is nice and clean. Original handle fits perfectly.
