Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cabinet makers chests were constructed by woodworkers to store, organize, and transport hand tools to work sites. Craftsmen frequently decorated the interiors with complex marquetry and veneer work as a practical demonstration of their skill to potential employers.

The exteriors were typically constructed from pine or oak and painted black or dark brown to protect against workshop wear. Interiors featured fine hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, and satinwood with hand-cut dovetail joints, sliding trays, and delicate parquetry inlays.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut joinery, original iron or brass side carry handles, and a strong contrast between a utilitarian exterior and an ornate interior. Look for wear consistent with tool storage inside the drawers and sliding compartments.

These chests function effectively as statement coffee tables, accent storage pieces at the foot of a bed, or decorative side tables in a study or living room.

Dust the surfaces regularly using a soft, dry cloth. Preserve the timber and inlaid veneers by applying a natural beeswax polish sparingly, avoiding excess humidity and direct sunlight.
