Rosewood, Striking Mantel Clock

19th century
Description

An early 19thC French Officer's clock dating from around 1820.

A superb rosewood case with boxwood inlay and retaining it's original french-polished finish. The bevelled front glass panel is removed from the clock by means of a bone knob to lift it out, allowing for winding and time setting.

The enamelled white dial has black Roman numerals and beautifully cut hands. It is signed "THOMAS A PARIS".

The 8 day movement strikes on a bell on the half hour and the number of hours on the hour. It has just been fully overhauled by our BHI registered staff and carries our usual 12mths full parts and labour guarantee.

This is the type of clock that would have been taken with them by senior French officers on military campaigns and it is interesting to speculate whether this clock may have seen service at maybe Waterloo.

Complete with original key. Overall height shown is with the handle up.

A little gem of a quality clock.

All cards accepted.
