Georgian Mahogany Demi-lune Hall Table

18th century
Description

A small handsome antique George III period inlaid mahogany demi lune hall table or wash stand dating from circa 1800. The wonderfully figured mahogany half-moon top with Satinwood inlay lifts up to reveal its original function as a washstand with cut out bowl holes, now with a drop in oak shelf to allow for use as a hall stand if desired. It features attractive beading to the frieze with a central square lozenge and stands on attractively turned legs united by a shaped undershelf. This attractive and unusual piece is a good compact size. Solid and sturdy, the mahogany is beautifully figured with a rich patina, this piece would look stunning in an entrance hall or as a side table with a lamp on it.
