Smart pair of late C19th French carved gilt-wood salon armchairs in the C18th Louis XVI period rococo style.
Elegant pair of carved and gilded armchairs raised on shapely cabriole supports with well-carved detail to frame . The outswept arms with upholstered arm pads , the back of cartouche shape with a serpentine top-rail having central carved rococo detail. The shaped front seat-rail with central carved shell detail.
The gilding having atmospheric wear and rubbing with minor areas of red ‘bole’ or gesso ground showing through the gilded surface .
In excellent strong condition with no breaks or repairs . The upholstery in good serviceable condition, the fabric being clean and of restrained period-style design.
