Large late C19th French�Grand Tour� souvenir bronze study , after the antique, of �The Borghese Gladiator�.Superbly detailed casting of the iconic warrior mounted upon a �rouge griotte� marble plinth base . The original Hellenistic life-size marble sculpture was sculpted around 100 BC at Ephesus , is now on display in the Louvre Museum, Paris , France. Rediscovered near Anzio, Italy , in 1610 , the sculpture became part of the Borghese collection at Villa Borghese in Rome before being acquired by Napoleon and taken to Paris .
