Late Victorian Mahogany Wall-Hung Cabinet with Shelves
A top quality mahogany piece, surprisingly lacking a maker''s name, from the latter part of the 19thC but in very good condition, with a superstructure that comprises shaped side panels with moulded front edges and united by a narrow upper shelf with serpentine up-stand to the rear, over a 2-door cabinet having side panels also with moulded front edges, the top with a projecting moulding and forming a full-depth shelf, the panelled doors with elaborately decorative central carving in the Dutch manner, recess-moulded frames with brass fretwork hinge plates and matching escutcheon and drop-handle, the doors opening upon two compartments, one with single intermediate shelf, all over a moulded plinth and a three-quarter inverted gallery to the base, this exceptional wall-hung cupboard will please in any elegant home and is sure to attract the flattering attention of your guests.
O/All Width 70cm x O/All Depth 21.25cm (27.5'' x 8.5'') & O/All Height 62cm (24.5'')
This piece dates from around the last decade of the 19thC, so you may expect the mature character & patina of age, together with wear & tear commensurate with normal use but, otherwise, it''s in very good, clean & sound condition, ready to use in your home.
