19th Century highly carved Japanese writing desk and chair from the Meiji period, the desk comprising of two sections, the top section having a shaped back incorporating a flying mythical bird above shaped shelves with scroll ends with brass engraved plates, cupboard and drawers below with the drawer and door fronts depicting Japanese countryside scenes, lovely detail in the carving and the door panels are in fantastic condition, moulded carving along the well figured writing desk top, with an intricate carved boarder running along the edge.
