Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian bow brooches are characterised by delicate, openwork metalwork designed to resemble ribbons, lace, or garlands. Popularised between 1901 and 1910, these pieces often feature old cut diamonds set in silver or platinum to accentuate light and movement.

Jewellers during the Edwardian era typically worked with silver-topped 18ct gold or platinum settings. These metals were paired with hand-cut diamonds, natural sapphires, rubies, and seed pearls.

Authentic pieces display fine millegrain wirework, open-back gemstone settings, and hand-cut stones such as old European or mine cuts. Period hallmarks and silver-on-gold construction are also key markers of origin.

A brooch can be fastened to a tailored jacket lapel, attached to a silk scarf, or worn on a velvet ribbon as a choker necklace. It can also serve as an embellishment on evening bags or hair accessories.

Clean the item using a soft-bristled brush, mild soap, and warm water, taking care not to submerge delicate settings for extended periods. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners and harsh chemicals, and inspect claw settings regularly to ensure stones remain secure.
