Gents antique Waltham wrist watch.

The watch has a seven jewel hand-winding movement, grade 161, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 17,495,451 which dates it back to 1908. Nicely patterned plates.

There is no physical evidence but we believe that the movement is a replacement as although the serial number dates it back to 1908, the case design is very typical of the 1920s/30s. Years ago, whole movements were often replaced as a more economical repair than dismantling the whole movement, a working watch was more important in those days than all the components being original.

The watch measures 31mm wide excluding the winding crown and 31mm high excluding the lugs. The case is chrome plated and it is nicely patterned and all in lovely condition.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial looks very nice to the naked eye. Through a jeweller’s loupe, faint line is just visible running from the centre towards number 11.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a vintage presentation box from a Glasgow jeweller. The box doesn't quite close 100% because of the thickness and newness of the strap.
