Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian furniture, produced between 1901 and 1910, shifted away from the heavy ornamentation of the Victorian era towards lighter, neoclassical forms. Influenced by 18th-century designs, pieces often feature clean lines, delicate inlay work, and refined timber veneers like mahogany and satinwood.

Edwardian craftsmen primarily utilised high-grade mahogany, rosewood, and satinwood. Construction frequently features hand-cut dovetail joints, boxwood or ebony stringing inlays, solid brass hardware, and slim, square tapered legs.

Authentic pieces exhibit precise geometric or floral stringing inlay using contrasting timbers, hand-finished surfaces showing natural patina, and brass fittings secured with original slotted screws. Proportions remain slender and balanced compared to earlier Victorian cabinetwork.

A small cupboard flanked by matching side chairs creates a formal arrangement along an entrance hallway, guest bedroom wall, or landing space. Pair the warm timber tones with neutral wall colours or contemporary textiles to create an eclectic contrast.

Maintain timber surfaces by applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, buffing along the grain. Keep pieces away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer movement, wood drying, and fabric fading.
