Description

A fabulous pair of late Victorian postage or letter scales, a neat size which would sit perfectly desk-top. The base is made from solid Mahogany and the scale made from polished brass which has been painstakingly dismantled, professionally polished and reconstructed, they look quite wonderful now.

The theme is circles with the support having a circular design and the pans both circular too, a really charming and unusual design. The letter pan is signed "Perry & Co. London", a renowned English maker. They come complete with signed weights by "Youngs,", a well known old London firm, known (1811-1901) as Young & Son, and originally based at 5 Bear Street, Leicester Square, London. This set would date to around 1890.

Excellent condition, measuring 7" x 3 1/4" x 3" tall.
