Beautiful Antique Royal Dux Porcelain Figurine Depicting a Lady Holding a Jug.

1900 - 1920
Description

Royal Dux porcelain is a type of porcelain that has been produced in Duchcov, Czech Republic since 1853. The company was founded by Eduard Eichler, who was inspired by the porcelain factories of Meissen and Dresden. The name of the company comes from the Latin word "Duke", the title of Eichler's father-in-law.

At the beginning of its activity the company produced simple white tableware, but soon began to experiment with colour and decoration. In the 1870s Royal Dux began to produce figurines, and by the beginning of the XX century they became the main focus of the company. Today, Royal Dux statuettes are a collector's item, and the company continues its activity, producing both porcelain tableware and statuettes.

Speaking of porcelain, Czechoslovakia is a country with a rich history. For many centuries this country has been famous for its high quality and beautiful porcelain.

The history of Czechoslovak porcelain dates back to the early 18th century, when the first porcelain factory was founded in the town of Ceske Budejovice. At the time, porcelain was a very new and innovative material, and the Czechoslovaks quickly adopted it. Over the next few decades, several more porcelain factories were opened throughout the country, and soon Czechoslovak porcelain became world-renowned for its quality and craftsmanship.

Today, Czechoslovak porcelain is still highly valued by collectors and connoisseurs around the world. With its beautiful design and impeccable quality, Czechoslovak porcelain remains one of the most sought-after types of porcelain.

The figurine is in excellent condition. Beautiful balance of the colour of the dress with soft undertones typical of the Bohemian school of porcelain craftsmanship.

The only thing that should be noted is a small technological hole above the upper lip. Apparently it was used during firing

The base has a characteristic pink clay stamp with the letter "E" and a round stamp "Made in Czechoslovakia".

It can be concluded that the statuette was made in the 1920s.

Height 37 cm

1250 g
