A superb and very unusual Carolean style carved oak metamorphic library steps / chair. The decoratively carved and pierced back flanked by barley twist columns below carved patrae and protective brass caps. The hinged seat and back open to form the steps, the top support having wonderful leaf carved decoration, all treads in solid oak with moulded edges. The chair has a chain support to stop closing once opened. Dimensions:- Height…36.25’’/ 92cm. Width…18.25’’/ 46.5cm. Depth Closed…24’’/ 61cm. Depth Open…35’’/ 89cm.
