19th Century Button-back Armchair

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Culvertons

Although this attractive and characterful Victorian button-back armchair is being offered unrestored, it is still, in its present state, very comfortable and supportive. As you would expect the rose pink floral fabric is marginally faded. However, apart from a small length of braid that is missing from the front edge, which could be easily replaced, it is overall in good useable condition. Its longevity is down to the traditional upholstery (horse hair etc.) that can be felt under its fabric cover. The rolled arms and top rail are all part of its clever ergonomic design and point to it being by a leading late 19th-century manufacturer (serial no. 6433 is stamped to the inside of the back leg). Whether you are looking for a good quality armchair to use or re-upholster, this period chair will make a lovely addition to your home. Alternatively, we would be happy to prepare a quotation, and if acceptable, undertake the work that is required on your behalf.
