Mike Melody Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
Probably welsh it has a lovely colour and patina.the base has a couple of chips and burns but being oak it has only added to its authenticity.
A humble country piece ,naive but nice in its own right.
We are dating as 1740 but I have seen these listed as 17thcentury
