Title "Gisborne Court at Peterhouse St Peter’s College Cambridge".

Subject architectural building view which depicts the north & south side of Gisborne Court in the Cambridge college grounds. With a flock of birds also flying overhead. The court was built in 1825-1826 in white brick with stone dressings in a simple Gothic revival style from the designs of William McIntosh Brookes. Only three sides to the court were built, the west side being just a screen wall, which has since been demolished. Plans are in an advanced stage for building the west side. Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Architectural drawings of this period focused on precise perspective, structural details, and topographical accuracy, often rendered in graphite or ink to document academic, ecclesiastical, or civic heritage.

Artists utilised woven or laid rag paper, graphite pencils, and ink washes, often housed within moulded wooden frames finished with ebonised paint or gold leaf.

Authentic pieces typically feature natural paper toning, age-related foxing, visible graphite stroke variations under magnification, and period-appropriate framing techniques or backing paper.

Monochrome architectural sketches can be integrated into a gallery wall or hung individually above a desk or sideboard to add historical contrast to contemporary decor.

Keep the artwork away from direct sunlight and high humidity, utilise UV-filtering protective glass, and ensure acid-free mounting materials are used to prevent paper degradation.
