Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian country seating originated in 18th-century England, featuring simplified vernacular interpretations of formal urban design. These pieces typically incorporate regional woods such as walnut or oak, practical straight legs with stretchers, and splat backs.

Craftsmen primarily utilised native hardwoods including walnut, oak, elm, and fruitwoods. Construction relied on mortise-and-tenon joinery, corner blocks, and drop-in or stuffed seats covered in wool, horsehair, or woven damask.

Authentic Georgian chairs display signs of hand-craftsmanship, such as slightly irregular hand-cut dovetails, peg construction, and saw marks on the frame underside. The wood will also show natural oxidisation and a deep aged patina.

These chairs can be paired with a minimalist contemporary dining table to create an eclectic contrast. They also function well as standalone accent chairs positioned in hallways, study spaces, or bedroom corners.

Keep the wood nourished by applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the chairs away from direct sunlight and radiators to avoid drying or cracking the walnut, and vacuum the upholstery gently with a soft brush attachment.
