Founders Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
Each chair features a sweeping yoke-shaped crest rail with elegantly curled terminals, supported by a slender backrest with three pierced panels, including a wan symbol and traditional longevity motifs.
Below, the legs are united by stretchers and decorative aprons carved with modest foliate outlines, all retaining traces of the original black lacquer against the warm natural grain of the exposed elm.

These chairs possess strong sculptural presence and would make a striking pair of hall chairs or could easily stand alone as accent pieces in a sitting room, study or landing. The minimal ornamentation and fluid line of the frame give them enduring appeal in both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Presented in very good antique condition, with a beautifully time-worn patina and characterful aged surface wear. Structurally all sound, clean and ready to place in the home.
Price is for Pair.
