Fine Victorian French Gilt Carriage Clock by Mappin and Webb C1880

19th century
Description

A Fine Victorian Carriage Clock c1880

~~ Excellent original condition throughout ~~

This is an original Victorian carriage clock dated to around 1880 and retailed by the famous Mappin and Webb Company of Regents Street, London.

It has a traditional gilt case with a shaped fold down handle and bell.

It is in excellent condition, bright and clean yet showing the patina which you would expect from a clock of this age.

The French movement is of very high quality and still retains its original escapement, it runs for a full 8 days and keeps good time.

All of the glass panels are perfect with no cracks or chips.

The movement is in excellent clean and running condition having just undergone a complete and comprehensive overhaul by Alan Williams of Plymouth Clocks who is a fellow of the British Horological Institute so you can be assured that this clock will give trouble free service for many many years before requireing any further attention

The escapement is original and it comes with its original box and key which is quite rare.

A beautiful high quality victorian carriage clock in wonderful condition which will give great pleasure for many years to come.

This clock has obviously been highly prized and looked after over the last 140 years and is a credit to its previous owners.

The clock movement comes with a full 12 month warranty.

Dimensions of clock: Height with the handle up 6", Width 3" and Depth 2.5".

If you would further information you are more than welcome to telephone Andrew and Lynn Wilson of Fowey River Antiques, Cornwall on 01726 813155 daytime and evenings. Please be aware this clock is also available for sale in our shop and therefore may be withdrawn.

Being over critical there is a very small chip to the top right hand corner of the white enamel dial but this is hidden by the bevel in the glass and can only be seen if looking at it from the bottom, it in no way detracts from the clock.

Delivery for this item to mainland UK is £10. Unfortunately we do not ship to Northern or Southern Ireland.

We are more than happy to ship to the United States and take pride in our postage and packing unfortunately due to extremely rough handling by US Customs on other clocks we are unable to offer insurance and returns are not accepted.

Why not collect in person and have a weekend in Cornwall - we are 2 miles from the historic port of Fowey and 3 miles from world famous Eden Project.
