Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Pembroke table is a type of drop-leaf occasional table popularised in the late 18th century, named after the Countess of Pembroke. It typically features two hinged leaves that raise to expand the tabletop, along with a single drawer in the frieze.

These tables were predominantly constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany or satinwood. Construction often features hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, flame mahogany veneers, reeded or fluted tapered legs, and timber fly-rail mechanisms to support the hinged drop leaves.

Look for period-accurate signs of construction, such as hand-cut drawer joinery, original brass hinges fixed with slot-headed screws, and secondary woods like pine or oak used for internal drawer linings. Slender reeded or square tapered legs and fine veneer grain patterns are key characteristics of the Sheraton style.

Position the table against a wall or beside a sofa with the drop leaves folded down to function as a compact occasional table. Unfold one or both leaves to display decorative ceramics, table lamps, or framed artwork, blending classic proportions with contemporary living spaces.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the wood finish, avoiding synthetic spray polishes, direct heat sources, and excessive moisture.
